Feel bored to be creative – Practice your reading

Hi Mates,

Probably for any creator, whether a writer, musician or artist, being boring is possibly the worst thing you can be labelled. But without doubt, boredom is one of the most important factors in creativity. According to Clare Thorp,” it is a silent muse that has inspired countless great songs, novels and paintings”.

Who has not had an idea, a project, a vision, an inspiration during the lockdown? Maybe this stressful life that we have to live, it does not allow us to fully express our creativity.

Speaking about writers, some of them such as JK Rowling, Agatha Christie, Anne Enright, David Foster Wallace or even the sculptor Anish kapoor, have found their inspiration in those moments when they do not know what to do.


Neil Gaiman, an English author of short fiction, novels, comic books, graphic novels, nonfiction, audio theatre and films, once said, “you have to let yourself get so bored that your mind has nothing better to do than tell itself a story“.
